TELEPHONE SCAMS TRY TO GET YOUR BANK ACCOUNT INFO

Our Pacific Trust Bank Phone Center staff has received several calls from customers who recently were scammed into giving out their bank account information.
Someone called and told them they won a $200 shopping spree (or similar prize). But in order to receive their winnings they would need to give the caller their bank routing number and account number for direct deposit of the funds.
Never give out your personal information over the phone – especially if the caller is claiming that you’ve won a prize or a sweepstakes.
Another customer received a similar call saying she had won an $8,000 prize, but had to pay a $200 fee to get it.
These are scams! Once the information gets into the wrong hands, most likely within a few days fraudulent or unauthorized transactions will hit your bank account via ACH or electronic check debit.
If you suspect that your bank account and personal ID information has been given to or obtained by scamsters, you should close your bank accounts immediately and open new ones.
REMEMBER - IF IT SOUND TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT IS!
Don't give out your personal ID data or bank account information to anyone soliciting it either over the phone or via the Internet/e-mail.
Please call our Phone Center staff at (877) 441-BANK if you you have any questions in this regard.
